Scholarship Reception

Helping women reach their potential through scholarships has been part of the Abby Foundation's mission for decades. This year's scholarship committee is already at work under the able direction of chairman Wanda Manning. Abby scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Forms are available through officials at south suburban high schools and community colleges as well as area four-year-colleges. Interested applicants should check their school's guidance office. Also, athletic scholarships are funded by the Thrall Family (long-time Abby members) and those forms are also available at south suburban high schools.

The Abby Foundation is again offering scholarships to women who need assistance to attend college next fall, either as graduating high school seniors or women returning to college. We are able to offer $1,000 scholarships to both undergraduate and graduate students attending a four-year college/university and $500 scholarships to those attending a two-year community college. Minimum GPA requirement is 3.0/4.0. Applications for the scholarships are due March 1, 2013. Recipients will be notified by mail the week of April 21, 2013. Applicants can download an application for the scholarship as a Word document or as a PDF file.

Athletic scholarships will be awarded in 2013 for Athlete of the Year. To apply for an athletic scholarship, print the scholarship application and submit (must be post marked) no later than March 12, 2013. Academic and athletic scholarships will be announced at our May Spring Membership and Scholarship Reception. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail the week of April 21st and are invited to attend the reception with one additional guest. Light refreshments will be served.
